How do I get started?
First, you need to log into Last.fm. If you don't have a Last.fm account, you
should
register one. Last.fm radio service is free
in US, UK and Germany and $3/month in other countries. If you already have an account, enter your user
name and password into corresponding input fields and click Apply. After that choose a
station, for instance, My Radio, and click the red button to start recording.
-
Where does Last Recorder save recorded tracks?
Last Recorder creates files like
<ARTIST>/<ALBUM>/<TITLE>.mp3
in
the selected folder.
-
Is it possible to hear what's currently recording?
This feature is planned. Subscribe to updates.
-
I have broadband Internet connection, why is music downloading so slowly?
Actually, Last Recorder does not download any files. It works
similarly to a tape recorder recording a radio broadcast. In other words,
Last Recorder saves data at the speed of the audio stream it receives from
remote server over the network. Thus, the speed of the stream is the main
limiting factor defined on the server side.
-
Where does Last Recorder store its settings?
On Windows:
Documents and
Settings\<USER_NAME>\.config\lastrecorder\config.cfg
On Linux and other UNIX-like systems:
$HOME/.config/lastrecorder/config.cfg
-
Is it possible to run multiple instances of Last Recorder?
Running multiple instances is pointless, since Last.fm allows
you to be tuned only to one station at any moment of time.
-
Is Last Recorder legal?
It is known that the use of Last Recorder breaches the
Last.fm Terms of Use (p. 3, iv). Regarding the
law, the author of Last Recorder is not aware of the laws which forbid the use
of this program. At the same time the author is not a lawyer. If you are an
expert in this field and can comment on this question, please
contact the author
by subiting an issue on the project page.
-
Everything is in English. Will there be a translation?
Russian translation is planned. It is unclear when exactly
this will happen, since Last Recorder is developed on a voluntary basis and its
author doesn't have the opportunity to work on the programm full time.
-
I'm getting the following message 'The folder content could not be displayed. Invalid byte sequence in conversion input'. What does it
mean and what should I do?

issue, which affects some users. If this affects you, please
leave a comment
including full version of your operating system, Last Recorder version and exact actions you
took to reproduce this issue.
