It's been a long time since my previous update, and many things have changed in my life. I've changed my job, quit my job, gone crazy, fallen in love, found myself, had two trips to Crimea, had a psychedelic experience and got a real African djembe from Ghana.

But there's one thing I haven't done yet and it's confession of love. Not the kind of love we fall into, no. I'm talking about the professional kind of love.

Why do I even talk about love in such an intellectualized high-tech field as information technology? I do this because I it's very important for me. Really, I've been working in IT since 2003, not to mention my earlier programming experience in the university and at school, and only now I fully realize why I'm still here. I simply like it.

But what exactly do I like? I've seen different systems and technologies employing a variety of approaches and principles but I can't say I like all of them even if they're good for the task. In other words, if I consider two technologies equally feasible for some particular use, which one would I prefer? That which uses more elegant approach! That is, I love aesthetically pleasing things.

It's not about what I think about these things but rather how I feel about them. This is the emotions I experience from working with an elegantly made peice of software that drive my interest for this profession. Of course, what I feel depends on my previous experience which allows me to see the difference, to tell this from that, to recognize things, and that's what my mind is for. It's a tool which I use to gain the experience and it's driven by emotions.

And in the light of all this I would like to write here about some things that I find elegant.
